Call for Interest: Join the i2X External Advisory Board

We are launching a Call for Expression of Interest to establish the i2X External Advisory Board (EAB), that will bring together independent experts to provide strategic, technical, and clinical guidance.

As the i2X project advances the real-world implementation of the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF), we are launching a Call for Expression of Interest to establish the i2X External Advisory Board (EAB).

The EAB will bring together independent experts from across Europe and beyond to provide strategic, technical, and clinical guidance, ensuring the project remains aligned with evolving EU policies, stakeholder needs, and best practices in interoperability and digital health.

Why this Matters

i2X is a flagship project under the Digital Europe Programme, working to demonstrate the value of EEHRxF through large-scale implementations across 12 EU Member States. As we prepare to scale, the Advisory Board will help anchor our work in real-world relevance, policy alignment, and sustainability.

About the Advisory Board

The i2X External Advisory Board will:

Offer independent input on policy, technical, and clinical aspects of the project;
Support the adoption and alignment of the EEHRxF across EU Member States;
Provide feedback on project deliverables, methodologies, and stakeholder engagement; Strengthen ties with wider European and international digital health communities.

Members will meet online twice per year and may be invited to contribute to specific reviews or consultations throughout the project.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome applications from experts with experience in:

Interoperability, EHRs, health data policy, and AI in healthcare;
Healthcare provision, public health, or clinical workflows;
Digital health governance, standardization, and testing;
Patient and citizen advocacy, or ethics and data rights.

We aim to ensure a balanced and diverse representation across stakeholder groups, including public authorities, technical bodies, healthcare providers, civil society, and SMEs.

Please note: Individuals directly involved in the i2X project are not eligible.

Timeline

Call opens: 8 October 2025
Application deadline: 27 October 2025 (23:59 CET)
Selected candidates notified: 10–11 November 2025
Advisory Board Kick-Off Meeting (tentative): 24–26 November 2025

Diogo Martins

Project Manager

Graduated in Health Equipment and Technology, with a background in Electronics, ICT, and Medical Devices. Holds an MSc in Healthcare Information Systems Management from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria and the Faculty of Medicine of Porto. Diogo has worked as a Medical Devices Consultant, Key Account Manager, and ICT Project Manager at SPMS, with a focus on healthcare data sharing, radiology, and telemedicine. He has coordinated and participated in multiple EU digital health projects (e.g., X-eHealth, eHAction, HEALTHeID) related to patient empowerment, health data use, interoperability, and sustainability.
